Feedback sought on guidelines for the prevention of Nosocomial Aspergillosis

The draft document “Guidelines for the Prevention of Nosocomial Aspergillosis” is now available for consultation, on the HPSC website.

 This document has been prepared by the Aspergillosis subcommittee of the HPSC Scientific Advisory Committee. The document is a revision/update to the original guidelines produced in 2002 (National Guidelines for the Prevention of Nosocomial Invasive Aspergillosis during Construction/Renovation Activities, 2002). The draft document comprises a summary of the key recommendations, an introductory chapter and subsequent chapters on

(i) At risk patients and risk factors;
(ii) Preventive measures to control invasive aspergillosis (including sections on a risk assessment process, pressurised ventilation systems for patient isolation, chemoprophylaxis)
(iii) Surveillance and diagnostic strategies.

All comments and suggestions on any aspect of this document are welcome. The comments will be reviewed by the guideline sub-committee and taken into consideration when preparing the final document. Please submit your comments by completing the consultation proforma available on the HPSC website and returning it by email to aspergillus@hpsc.ie.

 The final date for submission of comments is 20th May 2016.
