This HPSC report presents preliminary data on measles epidemiology in Ireland between early May and late July 2016. Most cases included in this report are linked to a national outbreak that followed importation of measles from a European country where measles outbreaks were occurring.
New guidance published on management of outbreaks of sexually transmitted infections
A new HPSC Scientific Advisory Committee national guidance document on the managment of outbreaks of sexually transmitted infections has been published on the HPSC website.
Zika virus is primarily spread through the bite of the Aedes genus of mosquito that is largely tropical and subtropical in distribution. It has also been recognised that Zika virus infection can be transmitted sexually.
